Competition for existing FreeStyle Libre users to win one FreeStyle Libre reader and one year’s supply of sensors (26 sensors). For your chance to win, share your story via a photo and caption explaining your experience with the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System on the competition page and highlight how using FreeStyle Libre can impact the lives of people with insulin dependent type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The promoter is Abbott Diabetes Care (ABN95 000 180 389) whose registered office is 666 Doncaster Road, Doncaster, Victoria 3108, Australia. Please do not send entries to this address.
  2. Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions and all participants will be bound by these terms and conditions.
  3. Entries must comply with these terms and conditions to be valid. Abbott Diabetes Care, and its hired agency, Weber Shandwick, reserves the right to disqualify anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.
  4. No purchase necessary.
  5. The competition begins at 8.00am (AEST) on Wednesday 26th April 2017 and closes for entry at 11.59pm (AEST) on Wednesday 26th July 2017. After this date and time, no further entries to the competition will be accepted.
  6. The winner will receive the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System prize consisting of one (1) FreeStyle Libre reader and twenty-six (26) FreeStyle Libre sensors to the value of AU$2,500. The prize will be gifted in the form of one or multiple vouchers from Abbott Diabetes Care and will be emailed to the winner. Vouchers can be redeemed online via the FreeStyle Libre webshop and Abbott shall waive the shipping costs.
  7. To enter the competition, an individual must:
    1. Post a photo and caption via the entry form on the competition landing page that shows how FreeStyle Libre has had an impact on the lives of people living with diabetes; and,
    2. Complete the entry form using a valid email address with valid and true contact details.
  8. Entries will not be accepted by any other method than via the competition landing page entry form.
  9. Entries by companies, groups or other associations will not be accepted.
  10. Only one (1) entry per person is permitted.
  11. To be eligible to enter, an individual must:
    1. Be an Australian resident aged 18 years old or over as at the competition launch date;
    2. Be living with type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes and using insulin to manage their diabetes and has used the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System; OR
    3. Be submitting an entry on behalf of a friend or family member (with their permission) who is an Australian resident aged 18 years or over, living with type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes, using insulin to manage their diabetes and using/ has used the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System and can explain the impact that FreeStyle Libre has had on their life;
    4. Complete a full entry in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  12. Individuals living with gestational diabetes, or entries on behalf of someone living with gestational diabetes, are not eligible to enter.
  13. Employees of Abbott Diabetes Care and/or their immediate family members, and/or anyone else connected in any way with helping to coordinate the competition are not permitted to enter the competition.
  14. Abbott Diabetes Care understands that everyone’s diabetes experience is unique and that entries will reflect the diversity of the lives of people living with diabetes and the varied FreeStyle Libre user experiences.
  15. Entries must not:
    1. Include medical advice or recommendations;
    2. Contain inaccurate, misleading or non-factual information;
    3. Contain photos of those aged under 18 years;
    4. Contain any profanity;
    5. Contain language or images that are derogatory, defamatory or disrespectful towards an individual, another company or organisation (including patient advocacy groups or diabetes bodies);
    6. Contain language or images that are deemed inappropriate, offensive or abusive. This includes comments, symbols or slogans that offend on the basis of race, religion, gender or sexuality, or statements that are intended merely to offend;
    7. Contain language, banners, symbols or slogans in a language other than English that cannot be translated or understood, or could be deemed inappropriate or offensive;
    8. Challenge any other entries that might include experiences or opinions that are different to their own;
    9. Contain competitor brand names;
    10. Contain or are considered spam;
    11. Contain comments that could encourage improper or dangerous behavior;
    12. Contain comments that suggest impropriety of an individual who could reasonably be identified;
    13. Contain comments that identify a third party individual who is not already in the public domain;
    14. Contain threatening language against another individual;
    15. Contain images or comments that depict or explain product usage outside of the current, approved indication from the TGA; nor,
    16. Contain details of a serious adverse event (e.g., death or serious injury) that violates the Australia Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) guidelines or violates the TGA advertising code (e.g., presenting the use of the product in a manner which may mislead or deceive consumers).   16. Weber Shandwick, the agency employed by Abbott Diabetes Care, will monitor each competition entry to ensure entrants meet the eligibility criteria and terms specified in this document.
  17. Once entries are submitted via the entry form on the competition landing page, the entrant will be shown a confirmation message on their screen notifying them that their entry is being reviewed.
  18. All entries will be individually moderated for review and an automated email message will be delivered to the entrant to notify them if their entry has been accepted or rejected based on the entry criteria in points seven (7) and fifteen (15). Entry moderation will begin on Wednesday May 10th when the competition landing page goes live. Once all entries collected from the first two weeks (from April 26th) are moderated, all other entries received from May 10th will be moderated and entrants notified within 72 hours of submitting the entry form about whether their entry has been accepted or rejected.
  19. Abbott Diabetes Care and Weber Shandwick reserves the right at any time, and at their sole discretion, to:
    1. Edit entries for spelling and grammar prior to publication;
    2. Remove any entries that are not valid or are not in the spirit of the competition;
    3. Reject entries that they deem and agree not to have met the eligibility criteria;
    4. Report or share entries with the relevant company representatives that include a product complaint, reference any adverse events or off-label use.
  20. Failure by Abbott Diabetes Care or Weber Shandwick to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
  21. No responsibility will be accepted for entries lost, damaged or delayed. No responsibility will be taken for technical, telecommunication or website error. Abbott Diabetes Care does not accept responsibility for network, computer or software failures of any kind, which may restrict or delay the sending or receipt of your entry.

  23. The automated message for accepted entries will include the option to share your entry on social media, at your choosing. Sharing does not correlate to your chance of winning.
  24. One (1) winner will be chosen from all eligible entries by a panel of representatives within Weber Shandwick, on behalf of Abbott Diabetes Care. There is only one (1) winner of this competition.
  25. In the instance that the winner is someone who is living with diabetes and has submitted his/her entry through an authorised friend or family member (as per T&C line item 11.c), the authorisation to enter this contest, and win on their behalf, must be confirmed with Weber Shandwick when the winner is notified via phone or email.
  26. The winning entry will be selected based on authenticity, originality, creativity, and relevance to the theme of how FreeStyle Libre has had an impact on the life of the person living with diabetes andusing FreeStyle Libre. ‘Impact’ can include:
    1. The effect of FreeStyle Libre on the person living with diabetes
    2. The impression left by the experience of using FreeStyle Libre
    3. The influence that FreeStyle Libre has played on the daily diabetes management decisions
    4. The consequences of using FreeStyle Libre on the life of the person living with diabetes
    5. Changes in a person’s daily life since using FreeStyle Libre
    6. The difference that FreeStyle Libre has made to the person living with diabetes
    7. Any transformation in the life or daily diabetes management of the person living with diabetes as a result of using FreeStyle Libre
  27. The prize is valued as at its recommended retail price (RRP) and Abbott Diabetes Care takes no responsibility for any variations in item values.
  28. The prize (or any unused portion of a prize) is not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. Any taxes (other than GST, if any) which may be payable as a consequence of a prize recipient receiving the prize are the sole responsibility of that prize recipient.
  29. The winner will be selected and awarded within seven (7) days of the competition close date - that is, by 11.59pm (AEST) on Wednesday 2nd August 2017.
  30. Weber Shandwick, on behalf of Abbott Diabetes Care, will contact the selected winner via phone or email (as per the contact details submitted on the entry form) to notify them of their prize and to verify, to the best of their ability, that the selected winner meets the eligibility criteria for this competition before the prize is awarded. All reasonable effort will be made to contact the winner.
  31. If the winner does not meet the eligibility criteria, cannot be contacted during the seven (7) day period after the competition close date or, for any reason, cannot claim the prize, Weber Shandwick, on behalf of Abbott Diabetes Care, reserves the right to pick a replacement winner.
  32. The decisions of Abbott Diabetes Care and Weber Shandwick are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  33. Abbott Diabetes Care holds no responsibility to compensate the competition winner if the competition is cancelled or amended in any way that lessens the value of the prize.
  34. Abbott Diabetes Care reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by Weber Shandwick, on behalf of Abbott Diabetes Care.
  35. Weber Shandwick or Abbott Diabetes Care are not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.
  36. No responsibility can be accepted for entrants who do not complete a full entry according to these terms and conditions or are not eligible to enter.
  37. Weber Shandwick or Abbott Diabetes Care shall not be liable for any loss, damage or injury suffered by any winner, or anyone else availing from the prize, as a result of the winner accepting and/or using the prize, except for any loss, damage or injury which is due to the negligence or wilful misconduct of Abbott Diabetes Care.
  38. Abbott Diabetes Care retains all responsibility for the product and will ensure the voucher is redeemable.
  39. In the unlikely event that the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System is not suitable for use by the winning entrant, Abbott Diabetes Care will not make an alternative promotional offer.
  40. Abbott Diabetes Care and Weber Shandwick’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  41. The winner agrees to Abbott’s use of his/her name and image for an unlimited period of time without remuneration for promotional purposes only. Any other personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current Australian data protection legislation.

Any personal data relating to participants will be used solely for the purposes of this promotion by Abbott or Weber Shandwick, unless the entrant has indicated otherwise on the competition entry form, and will not be disclosed to a third party for any other purpose without the individual’s prior consent.
  43. If the entrant has granted permission on the entry form for Weber Shandwick, on behalf of Abbott, to contact them and to share their FreeStyle Libre story, Weber Shandwick may contact that individual and ask for their permission to participate in media opportunities, using their submitted FreeStyle Libre story with select media outlets, including TV, print, radio and online.
  44. The competition and these terms and conditions are governed by the laws of each State and Territory of Australia and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the various Australian States and/ or Territories.
  45. The views, opinions and positions expressed by any entrant are theirs alone, and do not necessarily reflect the views, opinions or positions of Abbott Diabetes Care, Weber Shandwick or any employee thereof.
