Terms and Conditions

You can share your story via a photo and caption explaining your experience with the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System on the stories page youcandoit.freestylelibre.com.au, and highlight how using FreeStyle Libre can impact the lives of people with insulin dependent type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

  1. All stories submitted will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions and all participants will be bound by these terms and conditions.
  2. Submissions must comply with these terms and conditions to be valid. Abbott Diabetes Care reserves the right to disqualify any story in breach of these terms and conditions.
  3. To share your story for publication on the website, an individual must:
    1. Post a photo and caption via the entry form on the stories landing page youcandoit.freestylelibre.com.au that shows how FreeStyle Libre has had an impact on the lives of people living with diabetes; and,
    2. Complete the entry form using a valid email address with valid and true contact details.
  4. To be eligible to submit a story, an individual must:
    1. Be an Australian resident aged 18 years old or over
    2. Be living with type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes and using insulin to manage their diabetes and has used the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System; OR
    3. Be submitting an entry on behalf of a friend or family member (with their permission) who is an Australian resident aged 4 years or over, living with type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes, using insulin to manage their diabetes and using/has used the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System and can explain the impact that FreeStyle Libre has had on their life;
    4. Complete a full entry in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  5. Individuals living with gestational diabetes, or stories submitted on behalf of someone living with gestational diabetes, are not eligible for publication.
  6. Abbott Diabetes Care understands that everyone’s diabetes experience is unique and that stories submitted will reflect the diversity of the lives of people living with diabetes and the varied FreeStyle Libre user experiences.
  7. Stories must not:
    1. Include medical advice or recommendations;
    2. Contain inaccurate, misleading or non-factual information;
    3. Contain photos of those aged under 4 years;
    4. Contain any profanity;
    5. Contain language or images that are derogatory, defamatory or disrespectful towards an individual, another company or organisation (including patient advocacy groups or diabetes bodies);
    6. Contain language or images that are deemed inappropriate, offensive or abusive. This includes comments, symbols or slogans that offend on the basis of race, religion, gender or sexuality, or statements that are intended merely to offend;
    7. Contain language, banners, symbols or slogans in a language other than English that cannot be translated or understood, or could be deemed inappropriate or offensive;
    8. Challenge any other submissions that might include experiences or opinions that are different to their own;
    9. Contain competitor brand names;
    10. Contain or are considered spam;
    11. Contain comments that could encourage improper or dangerous behaviour;
    12. Contain comments that suggest impropriety of an individual who could reasonably be identified;
    13. Contain comments that identify a third party individual who is not already in the public domain;
    14. Contain threatening language against another individual;
    15. Contain images or comments that depict or explain product usage outside of the current, approved indication from the TGA; nor,
    16. Contain details of a serious adverse event (e.g., death or serious injury) that violates the Australia Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) guidelines or violates the TGA advertising code (e.g., presenting the use of the product in a manner which may mislead or deceive consumers).   8. Abbott Diabetes Care will monitor each submitted story prior to publication to ensure submissions meet the eligibility criteria and terms specified in this document.
  9. Once stories are submitted via the entry form on the landing page, the submitter will be shown a confirmation message on their screen notifying them that their submission is being reviewed.
  10. All submissions will be individually moderated for review and an automated email message will be delivered to the submitter to notify them if their story has been accepted or rejected for publication based on the criteria in point seven (7). Starting 18 September 2017, all submissions received will be moderated, and submitters will be notified within 72 hours of submitting the entry form about whether their story has been accepted or rejected for publication.
  11. Abbott Diabetes Care reserves the right at any time, and at their sole discretion, to:
    1. Edit entries for spelling and grammar prior to publication;
    2. Remove any submission that are not valid;
    3. Reject submissions that they deem and agree not to have met the eligibility criteria;
    4. Report or share entries with the relevant company representatives that include a product complaint, reference any adverse events or off-label use.
  12. Failure by Abbott Diabetes Care to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
  13. No responsibility will be accepted for submissions lost, damaged or delayed. No responsibility will be taken for technical, telecommunication or website error, data loss of any kind, lost or unavailable Internet connections, failed, incomplete, garbled or deleted computer or network transmissions, inability to access any website or online service, any other error or malfunction, lost, illegible or misdirected entries . Abbott Diabetes Care does not accept responsibility for network, computer or software failures of any kind, which may restrict or delay the sending or receipt of your submission.
  14. Accepted stories will appear live on the stories landing page youcandoit.freestylelibre.com.au.
  15. The automated message for accepted submissions will include the option to share your submission on social media, at your choosing.
  16. Abbott Diabetes Care reserves the right to cancel or amend these terms and conditions. If for any reason that Abbott Diabetes Care is not capable of running the website as planned, Abbott Diabetes Care is not in anyway responsible either legally or morally for cancelling, terminating, modifying or suspending the website.
  17. Any personal data relating to stories submitted will be used solely for the purposes of this campaign by Abbott, unless the submitter has indicated otherwise on the story submission form, and will not be disclosed to a third party for any other purpose without the individual’s prior consent.
  18. If the submitter has granted permission on the entry form for Abbott to contact them and to share their FreeStyle Libre story, Abbott may contact that individual and ask for their permission to participate in media opportunities, using their submitted FreeStyle Libre story with select media outlets, including TV, print, radio and online.
  19. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of each State and Territory of Australia and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the various Australian States and/ or Territories.
  20. The views, opinions and positions expressed by any submitter are theirs alone, and do not necessarily reflect the views, opinions or positions of Abbott Diabetes Care or any employee thereof.
  21. This campaign is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Twitter or any other social network. Submitters are providing their information to Abbott Diabetes Care. The information provided will be used in conjunction with the following Privacy Policy found at youcandoit.freestylelibre.com.au.
